25-yr-old married woman’s death shrouded in mystery

Patna: A 25-year-old married woman died under mysterious circumstances at her parents’ residence in Moti Pan Gali under Jakkanpur police station area on Saturday night. Though her parents and relatives claimed she died due to cold, her neighbours alleged she was mercilessly beaten up by her family members leading to her death.
She was publicly thrashed by her relatives, including her father Ram Iqbal Chaudhary and husband Santosh Chaudhary, a resident of Piyariya in Paliganj.She tried to run away but ran out of luck and was caught by her angry relatives. The neighbours, who tried to rescue her, were abused. It was only after their intervention that she was taken inside the house only to be tortured further. The neighbours also claimed the body had visible injury marks.
Jakkanpur SHO Arjun Lal said he got the information regarding the woman on Sunday morning and sent a police team to the spot only to find that the body had already been taken away for cremation. The SHO said that the deceased’s relatives claimed she died due to severe cold and fell on the handpump inside the house and that proved fatal. No case has been registered in this regard.
City SP Shivdeep Lande said the cops had already talked to her parents and in-laws and there was nothing suspicious in the case.
